Lost Pets
Did you know that a dog can travel up to 10 miles a day?
A
lot of people do not know to extend a search.
There is nothing more heartbreaking than a lost pet. Not only is
this devastating to the family, but also for the pet. There
are some simple things every pet owner can do to reduce the chance
of losing an animal, such as keeping cats inside the house and dogs
in a fenced yard. Make sure your pet's tags are current and ON -
even the inside pets. A tag doesn't do any good if your pet
isn't wearing it.
If
your pet does end up missing, it's very important to do ALL of the
following:
-
Put LOST posters
around the area with pictures of the missing pet - don't forget
to include your phone number.
-
If the pet was
adopted from a Rescue Group, call them immediately.
-
Place an ad in the
local paper and check the FOUND ads daily.
-
Call and post the
missing pet information to all your local vets.
-
Check the local
animal shelters DAILY.
-
Post the missing pet
information on
www.pets911.com and
www.petfinder.com, and on the PETCO bulletin boards.
-
Talk to your
neighbors, maybe someone has seen him.
Involve your friends and family in the search. Don't give up! It may
take longer than you expected, but you owe it to your pet to keep on
trying.
